Description

Water filtration is a general term that refers to any system or process that is used to filter out particles and pollutants from water. Anything that removes any amount of particles, sediment, bacteria, and the chlorine taste can be called water filtration.
Team Shoebox United is developing a solar powered water pump to help counteract water shortages in hot 3rd world countries. Our product is aimed at helping people in rural village areas which do not have access to clean water sources although our product is aimed at these people our customer base will be the government authorities in charge as they have to the responsibility of taking care of the people in the rural areas. Our product is needed as it can produces clean filtered water as well as store it. Our product allows the ability for expansion in these rural areas as pipes can be added. Also, our product can store water as well as electricity for emergencies. Our product stores the water to keep it safe from being polluted.
Our minimum viable product will be a smaller form of the build to demonstrate its features as well as its advantages compared to other products on the market. Our product is innovative because it uses rotating solar panels to become more energy efficient as well has the ability to be expanded which will aid into helping rural village areas become more technologically developed.
The main aim of our project is to provide clean water. We have identified our audience to be the government for the countries we will be arranging to build the water pump in. We will then advise the government to understand the concept of it, so they are able to produce a target audience along with our suggested target audience. Some of the worst countries which lack basic clean water include Mozambique, Somalia, and Uganda. ‘Almost 60 percent of the population in Ethiopia lacks basic access to drinking water. Half of those without basic access are drinking from water that is more than likely or certainly contaminated, like hand-dug wells, unprotected natural springs, ponds, and more. The idea of building a water filtration pump powered by solar panels can help eliminate contaminated water and as a result removes diseases such as diarrhoea, typhoid, and polio, also known as poliomyelitis. Once our idea has been put forward, if successful, we will look to generate more of these water filtration pump into many other countries who lack access to basic clean water. We believe our product will appeal to the government as they will have the funds to support those in need.

Challenges

These are the challenges we believe we will face to make our product. However we know we can overcome these challenges and make our product to help out the vulnerable.
